(ECNS) -- The number of confirmed cases across the world has exceeded 1.4 million by Tuesday, with the death toll passing 81,000 , according to the latest tally from Johns Hopkins University. U.S. has reported 387,547 confirmed cases and the number of deaths surpassed 10,000. New York state lost 731 lives from Monday to Tuesday, bringing the state's death toll to 5,489 while marking the deadliest 24 hours yet since the pandemic took place. Italy has reported a total of 135,586 confirmed cases of coronavirus, including 17,127 fatalities overall. France has registered 10,328 COVID-19 deaths since the pandemic outbreak, becoming the fourth country in the world to report over 10,000 deaths after Italy, Spain and the United States. The Chinese mainland reported 62 new COVID-19 infections and 137 new asymptomatic cases on Tuesday. By April 7, there have been 81,802 cumulative infections, 71,5854 cumulative recoveries, 3,333 cumulative deaths and 1,190 remaining infections. Another 935 cumulative cases in Hong Kong, 44 cases in Macao and 376 cases in Taiwan have been reported.
