Hong Kong police urged protestors to stop using violence and appealed to the public to not get involved in any illegal acts as protesters took to the streets in Sheung Shui, a Hong Kong town close to the border with Shenzhen in Guangdong Province on Saturday. "Some protestors argued with other people at scene and attempted to charge police officers when the officers intervened," said a statement issued by Hong Kong police on Saturday night. Following the end of an organized public procession at around 5:00 p.m., police said a large number of gears like helmets and goggles were "premeditatedly" distributed near MTR Sheung Shui Station, and some protesters have demolished railing and blocked roads using water barriers and objects collected on the side of the road. "Police urge the protestors to stop using violence and leave as soon as possible. Police also appeal to other members of the public to leave the scene as soon as possible and do not engage in any illegal acts," said the statement. |
