CHANGCHUN, Aug.16 -- The fifth China Folk Art Fair closed Sunday in Changchun, capital of the northeastern Jilin Province, with a record 108.2 million yuan (15.91 million U.S. dollars) worth of business deals. At the closing ceremony, Lu Fujian, deputy secretary general of Changchun City Government, said the nine-day fair also attracted a record 1.88 million visitors. About 2,600 exhibitors from China and nine other countries, including Russia, the Republic of Korea, Thailand and India, displayed more than 80,000 kinds of handcrafts made from paper, cloth, stone, clay, copper, tin and other materials. The fair is a biennial event in Changchun. |
