YAGNON, May 2 -- Myanmar will host the 14th meeting of the East Asia Business Council (EABC) in June, sources with the Union of Myanmar Federation Chambers of Commerce and Industry said on Saturday. A total of 100 businessmen from the member countries are expected to attend the three-day meeting scheduled for June 22-24. EABC was formed in April 2004 with businessmen from the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), China, Japan and South Korea. Myanmar attended the EABC meeting starting from its 12th. According to the last meeting of the EABC, Singapore was assigned to lead in trade and investment sector, while China in finance cooperation, Thailand in transport and logistic, Malaysia in tourism, Myanmar and the Philippines in food, agriculture, fishery, forest and mineral, Japan in small and medium enterprises and South Korea in information and communication technology. |
