Dutch Finance Minister Jan Kees de Jager on Saturday warned Greece that it risks failing to receive the next batch of bailout loans promised by international lenders. De Jager was talking on the sidelines of a conference of Finance Ministers and Central Bankers of countries represented by Holland in the administrative bodies of World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, held in the southern Cypriot city of Limassol. The Dutch minister urged Greece to fully comply with the measures and conditions the International Monetary Fund has laid down, referring to further austerity measures and structural reforms. "If it does not, Holland, Germany and Finland will follow the IMF should it decide not to give more money to Greece,"he said. "This may sound as a tough line but it is a right one," de Jager added. Sources said much of the discussion at the closed doors meeting concerned the Greek economic situation. Despite increasing pressure from the IMF and EU lenders, Greek opposition parties on Friday refused to endorse further austerity measures. |
