"Under US pressure, the Pakistani government also intends to find a way to free Davis very soon. However, this issue has so far been kept as a legal issue rather than a political or diplomatic one in Pakistan," Humayoun Khan, an Islamabad-based independent security and politics analyst, told the Global Times Wednesday. "That's also why the Pakistani foreign ministry has been keeping quiet on Mr Davis." Khan added, "I expect the Pakistani government to seek to pay compensations to families of these victims and then free Davis. But all these moves will be taken secretly because anti-American sentiment in Pakistan is extremely high at this juncture." Global Times - Agencies |
