The manager of a US electronics firm was sentenced Friday to 36 months in prison for conspiring to export military components and sensitive electronics to China, Reuters cited US officials as saying. Wei Yufeng, 46, of Massachusetts, was found guilty of illegally exporting technology used for "military radar, electronic warfare and missile systems" to China over a period of 10 years, the Justice Department said. The company, Chitron Electronics (Chitron-US), has been fined $15.5 million and Wu Zhenzhou, Wei's ex-husband who owned the firm, was earlier sentenced to 97 months in prison for his role in the exports. Wei is the fourth person to be convicted by the US court of secretly selling sensitive defense technologies to China within two weeks. Glenn Shriver of Michigan was sentenced to four years in prison for trying to get a job with the CIA so he could spy for China. A former Northrup Grumman Corp engineer was sentenced to 32 years in prison for providing secret defense information to China. Agencies |
