Tunisian prosecutors Wednesday opened an inquiry into the assets of Ben Ali and his extended family, the official TAP news agency reported. The Swiss government Wednesday marked the first real international pressure on the exiled leader, as it ordered a freeze on any funds that might be held by Ben Ali in Switzerland. Ben Ali has been barred from any political activity relating to his country, while he shelters in Saudi Arabia, Saudi's foreign minister, Saud al-Faisal, told a Saudi television station Wednesday. Two more people in Algeria set themselves on fire Wednesday, and another man attempted to but was stopped by people around him, bringing the total number of attempted public suicides to eight in a week, in replica of the Tunisian protests.
