(ECNS) -- Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Chen Hai met ambassadors from Thailand and Laos in Myanmar on Tuesday to coordinate and communicate about a joint operation to crack down on illegal gambling and fraud in the region. During the meeting, all three countries agreed that the rampant gambling and fraud in the region have seriously damaged the lives and property safety of people living in Myanmar, including citizens of China, Thailand, and Laos. The embassies of the three countries are deeply concerned about the issue, agreeing to take ongoing actions and spare no effort to assist Myanmar in search and rescue victims and in crackdown on gambling and fraud groups. The Chinese Ministry of Public Security, Thailand's National Police, the Myanmar Police Force and the Lao Ministry of Public Security held a meeting in Thailand's Chiang Mai a few days ago to initiate a special joint operation to attack gambling and fraud in the region, as well as human trafficking, kidnapping, illegal detention and other crimes, the meeting stressed. The embassies of the three countries will further coordinate to support Myanmar with jointly implementing consensus with relevant departments of the three countries, carrying out severe crackdown actions, and resolutely reversing the surge in crimes. |
