(ECNS) -- A meteorological routing center under the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) was established in Beijing on Thursday. The center will provide weather navigation services for ships based on weather conditions, sea conditions, vessel performance, and more. Currently, the comprehensive marine meteorological navigation service system of the center is already in operation. In the future, the center will further strengthen its capabilities in marine meteorological forecasting services. In recent years, the meteorological department has been focused on building an advanced system for oceanic meteorological navigation. This system is based on Feng Yun meteorological satellites and ocean surface observations, supported by CMA's global numerical forecasts, and uses global intelligent grid forecasting. It integrates multiple disciplines such as oceanography, navigation, and computer science. The new generation of long-range meteorological navigation system concentrates on key technologies like intelligent ship navigation, navigation risk assessment, vessel stalling algorithms, and others. As of now, this navigation system has provided services to nearly 8000 voyages for more than 60 shipping companies, achieving an average route optimization rate of 30 percent. |
