Zhang Yuzhuo, chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, has proposed to accelerate the establishment of modern SOEs featuring new development modes, enterprise governance, operating mechanisms, and structural layouts. Huang Qunhui, director of the Institute of Economics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered a speech on the characteristics of modern State-owned enterprises at the forum. He said there are two major differences between modern SOEs and those of the 1990s. Modern SOEs adapt to the requirements of the socialist market economy system and help promote China's modernization drive in the new era. Sun Hongshui, general manager of China Energy Engineering Corporation, said that it is necessary to fully grasp the new features of modern SOEs to serve Chinese modernization: that is innovation in enterprise governance, operation, and technology. Liao Jiasheng, general manager of the China Logistics Group, underlined that SOEs should take innovation as an important task, and accelerate research and development of core technologies to gain new advantages for future development of enterprises. The forum was hosted by China News Network and co-hosted by the State-owned Assets Report Magazine. During the forum, a book on case study of China's SOE reforms was jointly unveiled by officials from the Reform Office of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of the State Council, the News Center of the SASAC, China News Service, and the Machinery Industry Information Institute. The publication will be distributed nationwide. |
