By Zhang Wen The Belgium embassy in Beijing unveiled Belgian Gourmet Week Thursday to mark the 144th King's Day. "While back in the motherland, all public institutions will be on holiday. I hope people in Beijing can have a chance to taste Belgium and the King's Day with royal menus presented in Belgium restaurants, together with our traditional products provided in selected bars and supermarket," Belgium's ambassador to China, Patrick Nijs, said Thursday in Beijing at the opening ceremony of Gourmet Week. Until the end of the month, the inhabitants of Beijing will be able to enjoy some fine Belgian dining at several restaurants offering a "royal menu," such as W-Dine and Wine and Morel's. Thanks to Vandergeeten, a European food distributor in China, special product promotions will be offered at BHG supermarkets in Shin Kong Place and Solana. At the same time, bars such as Beer Mania, The Tree and Nearby the Tree will have special happy hours daily to get people more familiar with different types of Belgium beer. |
